I thought that some data about Malaysia might be of interest.
MALAYSIA:
Area: 329.750 km2 including the peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and
Sarawak.
Frontiers: 2.669 km with Brunei 381 km, Indonesia 1.782 km and Thailand 506
km.
Coastline: 4.675 km with peninsular Malaysia 2.068 km.
Population: 24.4 millions.
Capital: Kuala Lumpur.
Langkawi: Has apparently 99 islands, but this depends on how small islands
you are considering. Some are uninhabited. They are mostly, as far as I can see,
covered with thick jungle.
Time zone: GMT +8 h.
Language: Bahasa Malay, Cantonese and English widely spoken.
Ethnic divisions: Malay and other indigenous 59%, Chinese 32% and Indian
9%.
Religion: Malays mostly Muslim, Chinese Buddhist and Indian Hindu.
Government: The Confederation of Malaysia was formed in 1963. It consists
of 13 states and are ruled by Sultans, usually in direct succession from a royal
family. Every 5 years an election is held for the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or
“King” of Malaysia. An elected government handles the real power and economic
as well as the law-making apparatus. The UMNO party has been in power since 1963.
