Malaysian Navy Party In Lumut.

The Malaysian Navy is having a party today and has blocked the center of the town. They will have a Navy Chefs competition and I had a look while they were setting it up Friday. I had a walk in town.

BBQ At Pangkor Marina, Varnishing The Entrance And Navy Movements In Front Of My Flat.

The East Malaysian Yacht Rally stopped at Pangkor Island Marina and James, the Manager, arranged a BBQ and Potluck evening at the yard. It was a very nice evening and many long distance sailors showed up. As lost of them are circumnavigating and a certain age..., I was wondering how many nm we have sailed between us? It must be a huge amount.

James and his family at the BBQ.

Someone showed up with a bucket full of fresh fish.
The result of my, so far, three weeks varnishing job. Not happy with the result, yet....

The aft bed has been taken apart and looks like this since mid January because of the work with new batteries and repair of the Charger no 2. Batteries are installed OK, but the repair of the charger has not worked and the chap does not show up. Am considering refusing to pay him and will soon reinstall the bed and get on with my life. Three months like this is a very long time.
Plenty of Navy ship movements each day. This evening five ships arrived and there are now 12 ship docked. Great view from my 15th floor flat.

Pangkor Island Outing.

Pangkor Marina organized an excursion to Pangkor Island and not only the Sail Malaysia Rally participants were invited, but also the sailors presently at the Marina. We had an early start taking the ferry across from the Marina and were taxied around the island ending up with an excellent lunch at the beach. The following is my collection of the photos taken during the outing.

The first stop was at a temple.

Then on to a fish processing plant where they dry and sort the small fish which one find everywhere in the area.

Then on to a fishing boat construction yard.
 Beautiful timber.

Drying the fish in the sun.

The keel has been laid. But what condition these workers work under.
Finally to the beach restaurant for a great lunch.

Beautiful setting and if I will have the time, I would like to anchor off in this bay?

The food just came coming and its was great and tasty. This is Crab.
 Then Scrimps.
 Rice salad.
 Fish.

 Chicken.
Aparently some parts of a fish(?) but it was very tasty.
 Vegetables.
And then return journey to the Marina.
